1. The first diamond was found in India more than 3000 years ago and the precious stone has since then become the preferred and most expensive of the jewellery stones.

    Reblogged from girls-and-butterbeer

I hate my stomach and my thighs. I hate my ass. I hate my smile. I hate how my clothes look on me. I hate my voice. I hate how I talk to people. I hate that everything gets to me and I care too much. I hate that I’m never smart enough. I just want to be everything that I’m not.

  3. You would have to run in order to keep up with a giraffe walking because every step a giraffe takes is 15 feet long

And now for the laying down ones. Lazy pictures.

  4. The capybara is the largest of all living rodents. In the language of the Guarani Indians, capybara means “master of the grasses.”

I’ve been browsing through some of my liked pictures here at Tumblr, and decided to share some of my favorites with you. Though, Tumblr desperatly needs a page button for the liked section, takes an awful lot of time to through it all…

P.S. These are just pictures with a standing format, those laying down I’m gonna put together in a new post. It looks way more tidy that way.

    And as a little extra, some nice Tumblrs to check out;

  5. “At first I started to cover my watercolor painting lightly with coffee to get the old-look effect. I found that it was very interesting and effective and continued to experiment – some were good, some were not.”

Have you ever even thought about using nice, warm, aromatic coffee in your mug to paint a painting?  Pornchai Lerthammasiri did.  As an accomplished watercolor artist, Pornchai wanted to do something new – more challenging.  Coffee was his choice.

  6. Often, shadow ghosts are seen in low-light conditions and out of the corner of the eye. Our peripheral vision does not focus, and therefore is excellent in detecting movement and may actually be improved in lower light environments.

Everyone should take their time to read this: http://www.angelsghosts.com/shadow_ghosts

  7. An aurora is a natural light display in the sky particularly in the high latitude regions, caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere

During the Viking Age, the northern lights were said to be the armour of the Valkyrie Warrior Virgins, shedding a strange flickering light.

In northern latitudes, the effect is known as the aurora borrealis (or the northern lights), named after the Roman godess of dawn, Aurora and the Greek name for the north wind, Boreas, by Pierre Gassendi in 1621.

Typically the aurora appears either as a diffuse glow or as “curtains” that approximately extend in the east-west direction. At some times, they form “quiet arcs”; at others (“active aurora”), they evolve and change constantly.

After the Battle of Fredericksburg the lights could be seen from the battlefield that night. The Confederate army took it as a sign that God was on their side during the battle. It was very rare that one could see the Lights in Virginia.

The Valkyrior are warlike virgins, mounted upon horses and armed with helmets and spears. /…/ When they ride forth on their errand, their armour sheds a strange flickering light, which flashes up over the northern skies, making what men call the “aurora borealis”, or “Northern Lights”

The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are discharged particles from the sun that pass through the magnetic shield of earth and create light when they mix with atoms and molecules such as nitrogen and oxygen gases on entering into the earth’s atmosphere.

  9. Dogs become loyal not because you feed them, but because of the companionship you give them.

I have one of the weirdest dogs on this planet, I’m pretty sure of it. She is quite spoiled, sometimes obnoxious and know very well what she wants or not. Oh, and she also shares a double-bed with my grandpa, and has her own pillow with sheets on that always matches the one of my grandpa’s pillow.

Yes, it’s my dog in the pictures.

  10. Prada first began as an Italian leather bag manufacturer in 1913, created by Mario Prada. But the Prada name is most famous due to the success of his grand-daughter, Miuccia, born 1949.

Miucci Prada managed to dazzle the audience quite a lot with her new models. At her autumn/winter show for 2012, she had gotten stars such as Adrien Brody, Gary Oldman, Tim Roth, Willem Defoe, Jamie Bell and Emile Hirsch to walk for her. O’boy did they look good!
